7.11.1 - Introduction
This section is concerned with the special
requirements for devices and circuits which are designed
to produce heat for transfer to their surroundings. All
water heaters (as well as those for other liquids) must
be provided with a thermostat or cut-out to prevent a dangerous
rise in temperature. Not only could the high temperature
of the water or other liquid be dangerous, but if allowed
to boil, very high pressures, leading to the danger of an
explosion, could result if the liquid container were sealed.
