3.8.1 -  Combined protection

In many practical applications, most types of fuses and circuit breakers are suitable for both overload and short circuit protection. Care must be taken, however, to ensure that the forms of protection are chosen so that they are properly co-ordinated to prevent problems related to excessive let-through of energy or to lack of discrimination {3.8.6}.
