3.8.5 - Absence of
protection
The protection described in this Chapter
applies to conductors, but not necessarily to the equipment
fed. This is particularly true where flexible cords are
concerned. For example, a short circuit in an appliance
fed through a 0.5 mm2 flexible cord from a 13 A plug may
well result in serious damage to the cord or the equipment
before the fuse in the plug can operate.
